About Alejandra Peary

Alejandra Peary is a native Spanish speaker with a bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Yucatán in Mérida, México and a Master's of Education in Higher Education and Administration from Eastern Nazarene College. Alejandra has many years of experience in teaching foreign languages in preschool, elementary, secondary and higher education settings.

 

Alejandra has taught all levels of Spanish at the undergraduate level in both face-to-face and online settings. She has extensive professional development experience and has completed numerous workshops, webinars, and Quality Matters training, and has received a Course of Distinction Award from Massachusetts Colleges Online. She has taken a summer course on Machine Learning through MIT and is also certified in teaching English as a second language (TESOL). 

 

Alejandra pushes herself to be a better educator by attending, and presenting, at national and international conferences on language teaching and teaching with technology.

 

Alejandra created the first online Spanish course at Massasoit Community College and the first Open Educational Resource (OER) Spanish course at Bridgwater State University. She also has experience teaching at different universities such as the University of Rhode Island, Mass Maritime Academy, Boston University and Brandeis University.

 

Some of her interests are the use of technology in the classroom, technology, assessment in education and experiential and project-based learning.
